With its new production "JOY!" (Zulu: Injabulo), the internationally acclaimed Soweto Gospel Choir returns to Europe in 2026 to present a powerful musical celebration of harmony and unshakeable hope. The multi-Grammy award-winning choir's new program combines traditional African gospel, spirituals and freedom songs with contemporary classics to create a deeply human concert experience.

Born out of the rich traditions of South Africa, the show is a joyful declaration of unity and acceptance - a resounding signal that lifts hearts and unites people, especially in uncertain times. With their world-renowned vocal power, colorful costumes and irresistible rhythms, the artists create an atmosphere that is both festive and deeply moving.

The Soweto Gospel Choir was founded at the beginning of this century in Soweto, a township of Johannesburg. From the very beginning, the aim was to present the rich gospel, spiritual and freedom singing traditions of South Africa internationally and at the same time to set an example for reconciliation and cultural diversity. In the early years, the ensemble toured extensively throughout Europe, North America and Australia and quickly gained a loyal worldwide fan base. The choir reached a significant milestone in 2007 with its first Grammy Award for the album "Blessed". Two more Grammys followed in 2008 and 2019 (for "Freedom") - impressive proof of the choir's consistent artistic quality. The choir has also performed at numerous major international events, including concerts in honor of Nelson Mandela, and has worked with world stars from the worlds of pop, rock and classical music. With educational projects and the promotion of young talent in South Africa, the ensemble is also committed to supporting the next generation of musicians.
