Sinfoniekonzert: Paukenwirbel
In the organizer's words:
A musical exploration of Haydn, Martinů, and Shostakovich—featuring Tabea Zimmermann, Anna Rakitina, and the KAP
An internationally acclaimed soloist, versatile chamber musician, respected educator, and brilliant program curator—violist Tabea Zimmermann is a musician of captivating versatility. Under the baton of Ukrainian-Russian conductor Anna Rakitina, she will perform the lyrical and contemplative Rhapsody Concerto by the Czech composer Martinů.
Rakitina is known for her intense musical engagement with her homeland, particularly with the works of Shostakovich. She also demonstrates a particularly refined sensibility for interpretation in the Viennese Classical period, drawing a thematic connection to Shostakovich in Haydn’s “Timpani Roll” Symphony. Caroline Shaw, in turn, draws on Haydn in her “Entre’Acte” and translates his ideas into the present day through humorous sketches.
