For their second collaboration, Klaas Stok, the NDR Vocal Ensemble, and KAP turn to a masterpiece by Joseph Haydn. “The Creation” is a hymn to the creation of the Earth and marks the dawn of the great German oratorio. Haydn’s music reflects the passage of time and imbues the present with radical optimism—but what has become of it, of this “world, so vast, so wondrous,” that the composer once praised?
A work that raises profound questions about time, yet manages, with its captivatingly beautiful timbre, to push the mundane into the background.
