Sinfoniekonzert: Metamorphosen
In the organizer's words:
Acclaimed conductor Ustina Dubitsky makes her debut with the KAP, performing works by Mahler, Enescu, Dusapin, and Beethoven
“Ustina Dubitsky […] shows major orchestras how it’s done,” Bayerischer Rundfunk recently wrote about the conductor. Acclaimed debuts at the Berlin Philharmonic, the Bavarian State Opera, and the Théâtre des Champs-Élysées have defined her young career, in which one thing has always taken center stage: the creation of exciting and unusual concert programs. For her KAP debut, Dubitsky focuses on musical metamorphoses, emphasizing both small, special (aural) moments and grand symphonic works.
A sensual, almost mysterious melodic line runs through Mahler’s famous Adagietto, while in Enescu’s “Dixtuor,” catchy folk melodies duel with contrasting sounds. Beethoven’s Fourth Symphony, a signature piece for the KAP, comes across as cheerful and delightful, though its fragility is repeatedly audible in the deviations from expectations.
Concert introduction at 6:45 p.m.
