Naht zur Nacht

On chor.com Saturday, the audience will have the opportunity to be carried from the evening into the musical night by the sounds of the top Swiss ensemble Zürcher Sing-Akademie. However, the ensemble will not lull the audience to sleep, but into a dialog of cultures and choral music between tradition and modernity. One of the central works of the program is the title piece "Naht zur Nacht", a commissioned work by Swiss composer Beat Vögele. With a network of frequencies in the micro-interval range, the audience is enveloped in the special magic of the falling darkness. Vögele's piece is framed by other compositions dedicated to motifs such as night and transience, including Johann Sebastian Bach's "Komm, o Tod, du Schlafes Bruder", Johannes Brahms' "Nachtwache I" and Heinz Holliger's "Winter 1".
