KAPmeets: Italienische Heiterkeit
In the organizer's words:
Emmanuel Pahud, François Leleux, and the KAP invite you to a place of longing with Schubert, Mozart, Rossini, and Mendelssohn
Right from the start, Franz Schubert sets the theme for the evening: Italy. “Italianità” served as a source of inspiration for many composers, prompting them to create lavish works that resemble kaleidoscopes of this land of longing. “There’s music in it; it resounds and rings out from all sides,” wrote 21-year-old Felix Mendelssohn about the country that he would soon make the subject of his Fourth Symphony.
François Leleux and Emmanuel Pahud—a world-renowned soloist and long-time musical partner of the KAP—will bring a program brimming with joie de vivre, cheerfulness, and musical diversity to the stages of the Nikolaisaal and the Berlin Philharmonie, before embarking on joint tours through Germany and Austria as well as to South America.
