In the organizer's words:
In their concert, the singers of Sjaella combine early music with contemporary music and captivate the audience with their voices and movements. They make nature audible: In Caroline Shaw's "Dolce cantavi", the birds speak in colourful lutes, in Meredi's minimalist "Crystallized", ice and water communicate with each other, cracking and gurgling, and the seasons enter into a baroque competition in Henry Purcell's semi-opera "The Fairy Queen". At the heart of the program is the thought-provoking work "What Would Circe Do?" by Australian composer Wally Gunn, premiered in 2025, with a libretto by Sjaella alto Felicitas Erben. Circe, the Greek goddess and plant alchemist with a human voice, is asked for advice: how can the essentials find their way back into our silenced hearts? With sound and physical expression, Sjaella directs our attention to the power of nature.
