The two Japanese truckers Gun and Goro arrive in a town hungry. There they eat in a small restaurant where the young widow Tampopo cooks and serves ramen - the traditional Japanese noodle soup. However, business there is not going particularly well and so the unlikely pair of truckers decide to help the owner of the store and her family.
TAMPOPO focuses on the preparation and worship of Japanese noodle soup. The Japanese comedy celebrates the joy of eating, but also shows bizarre aspects. Tampopo contains scenes in which food and eroticism are combined in unusual and sometimes explicit ways.
