Orlando is born in the midst of the Elizabethan era: ennobled by the queen as a young man, he experiences his first love with a Russian princess. During the reign of Charles II, he lives with incredible ease as an ambassador in Constantinople and is eventually named a duke. After a wild night at the court of the Turkish sultan, Orlando wakes up one morning as a woman, accepts her fate, and travels through world history, remaining eternally young. The hustle and bustle and pleasures of the modern metropolis of the 1920s and the introduction of women’s suffrage captivate Orlando before her story finally comes to an end in our time.

*Orlando: A Musical Journey*is a musical delight based on Virginia Woolf’s novel, in which all the rules of time, gender, and narrative are broken. Actress Sascha Maria Icks navigates shifting social circles, identities, and expectations, always searching for the truth—singing, narrating, and acting.
