Open Air Kino: Queer

USA 2024, 137 min., German version, FSK 16, Director: Luca Guadagnino, starring: Lesley Manville, Jason Schwartzman, Daniel Craig, and others. 

In the early 1950s, following a drug raid in New Orleans, William Lee fled to Mexico City to enjoy life and indulge his drug addiction with impunity. He has money from his family and is therefore financially independent. For Lee, the city’s queer scene and cantinas are a kind of paradise. He meets Eugene Allerton, an ex-soldier, and falls in love with him. Together, the couple travels to the jungles of Ecuador in search of the hallucinogenic plant yage. 

Luca Guadagnino (“Call Me by Your Name,” “Suspiria”) has adapted William S. Burroughs’s novel of the same name without compromise.

Open-air cinema in the garden

When the sun slowly sets in the summer and the air is still warm, it’s finally time for open-air cinema in the E‑Werk garden. Grab your favorite people, kick back in a lounge chair, and enjoy movies in a relaxed atmosphere under the starry sky. 

Unless otherwise noted, we’ll be showing all films in the German dubbed version. Look forward to a lovingly curated mix of timeless classics and arthouse gems.  
 
The garden opens at 6 p.m.—perfect for arriving early, taking a deep breath, and getting in the mood. As soon as the sun goes down, your movie experience begins. 

We’ve got everything you need to go with it: cool drinks and really great fries to round out your summer evening.
