In the organizer's words:
Wanderlust
AROUND THE WORLD IN ONE EVENING: At the New Year’s Concerts on the 26th and 27th, the NPW takes you on a journey with works by Rossini and Dvořák, as well as highlights from Offenbach, Lincke, and Suppé. We’ll also take a look back at the Roaring Twenties and visit Vienna with music by the Strauss dynasty!
The concert tells the story of expeditions to places near and far that inspired composers. The exotic and the distant have always held a special allure, reflected in oriental fairy-tale worlds, atmospheric scenes from the South Seas, and American impressions.
Along the way, we’ll encounter Strauss classics such as the “Chinese Gallop,” the polka “Éljen a Mágyar!” and the “Lagoon Waltz,” as well as gems like Paul Abraham’s music for “The Flower of Hawaii.”
Conductor Florian Ziemen, General Music Director of the Hildesheim Theater, will lead the New Year’s concert series as a passionate operetta specialist.
