When Sungsoo surprises his wife Sarah by buying a house, the move to the Korean countryside stirs up mixed feelings in her. The new home feels inhospitable. A creepy old woman appears out of nowhere and frightens her. The attractive young neighbor, Eynbyeol, seems a little too familiar with Sungsoo, and in the attic they find a mysterious vinyl record that plays no sound other than the scratching of the needle. When Sarah wakes up shortly afterward with her ears bleeding, she notices that she can hear male voices growing fainter and fainter. The doctors, however, can find no explanation for it. 

With its precisely composed soundtrack and haunting imagery, the new mystery thriller by Abner Pastoll (A GOOD WOMAN IS HARD TO FIND) gets under your skin and creates an enigmatic atmosphere of menace and growing alienation. Sarah Bolger shines in her portrayal of a woman on the brink.
