Home Theater: A SEPARATION (Original Version with Subtitles)

Simin wants to leave Iran. Her husband, Nader, wants to stay and not leave his father, who has Alzheimer’s, alone. So Simin files for divorce in family court. When her petition is denied, she moves in with her parents. Their daughter, Termeh, stays with her father for the time being and hopes her mother will come home soon. To care for his ailing father, Nader hires a young woman. Razieh is pregnant and takes the job without telling her husband. When Nader comes home from work and finds his father alone in the apartment, a huge scene ensues. As a result, the lives and relationships of everyone involved are severely disrupted and shaken up. And as we watch the events unfold breathlessly, we realize: there is no single truth.

"heimkino." is a project in collaboration with Flugmodus GmbH, created to provide a home for the community of film and cinema lovers in the trendy Ehrenfeld neighborhood. As part of this new series, we bring classic films and lesser-known masterpieces back to the big screen every Wednesday. Each month is dedicated to a common overarching theme.
