The first novel by the multi-award-winning journalist Şeyda Kurt is finally here! Be sure to join us as we celebrate the book launch of “Time of Monsters”—a blend of pop culture, social commentary, and tragicomedy—together with Şeyda Kurt and journalist Maria Popov.
The setting is a neighborhood. The time is the apocalypse. At least, that’s what more and more people believe, spurred on by a prophecy spreading like wildfire across the internet. Meanwhile, young Sanya roams through the wild, dilapidated neighborhood—where people stick together despite everything—with a pistol in her backpack—until one day she encounters a strange figure.
Somewhere between a furious epic and the most colorful pop, between an existential opera and the warmest soap opera, Şeyda Kurt asks what opportunities lie in the collapse of all orders. Sanya and her dazzling chosen family are deeply entangled in the history of their community, which spans borders and eras. Can we live differently? Stirring, intelligent, and transformative, this debut novel proclaims: Yes.
The novel is scheduled to be published by Hanser Verlag in late July 2026.
