Oooppps ! How time flies... 40 years of Rockabella and the Giddyups!

Who would have thought it when Mats Gabler and Fredl Schranz seriously decided to form a band in the summer of 1985. All they needed was a guitarist and they were able to give their first concert on 26.04.86. The success proved the three of them right, and the 6-song program had to be played three times that evening. After a reshuffle and merger with Bep Neubauer's rockabilly band, things really took off with the addition of drummer Ferdinand Brücklmeier. They literally played "come hell or high water", which became the combo's trademark. They were quickly passed around the scene, getting arrangements all over Europe without forgetting where they came from and what their mission was: rockabilly + joy of playing, laughing and having fun with the audience.

And that's exactly what the guys still do in their 40th year and after almost 1000 gigs in this line-up.

Guaranteed to be a concert with lots of fun, the best of 40 years and only short breather breaks. Business as usual for the boys. Be there or be square!

Christian Christl loves the good, old, handmade "vintage blues & barrelhouse piano". Over the last 40 years he has played concerts all over Europe, in the USA and in Australia. The current solo program is called: "The wonderful world of barrelhouse and boogie piano". Christian Christl plays, sings and tells music and stories from the time when the boogie piano learned to walk. From the first drumbeat in Africa to the rhythm of the steam locomotive. From the madam Doodles in Storyville in New Orleans to Fats Domino. Two hours of spontaneous reading - without a manuscript, of course, but with lots of good, handmade music on the grand piano. The blues pianist Memphis Slim gave Christian Christl a good tip many years ago: "Blues pianists tell musical stories - and play a little piano to go with it". Christian Christl still follows this tip today.
