Elisabeth Sparkle, an award-winning actress, now hosts a successful TV fitness show. When she is replaced by a younger host, she decides to accept an anonymous offer. Using “The Substance,” an illegal drug, Elisabeth hopes to create a younger version of herself. What initially seems like a solution quickly turns into a nightmare with unpredictable consequences.
