The Burgkino is located at Opernring 19 in Vienna's 1st district, directly on the Ringstrasse. It was founded in 1912, making it one of the oldest cinemas still in operation in Vienna. With two auditoriums - auditorium 1 with 292 seats and auditorium 2 with 73 seats - it is a manageable, independent arthouse cinema with nostalgic charm.

The Burgkino is considered Vienna's first original version cinema and to this day specializes in showing films exclusively in their original version - predominantly English-language, but also European arthouse and indie productions.

The Burgkino is closely associated with the classic film "The Third Man" (1949) - the noir icon shot in Vienna, which is still shown several times a week in its original version at the Burgkino and has become a fixed ritual for film lovers and visitors to Vienna. In addition to current films, political discussions and film classics round off the program.
