On the 100th birthday of Ingeborg Bachmann
Nicole Seifert, Katharina Hagena and Christiane von Poelnitz - followed by an ARTE film screening

Ingeborg Bachmann is often viewed through the lens of her love affairs with male colleagues - this evening will focus on her friendships with female colleagues. Ilse Aichinger and Marie Luise Kaschnitz in particular were important counterparts for Bachmann. "I have to be able to talk here and there, I have to get rid of the outward appearance of a project," she wrote to Hans Werner Henze, "and I usually had no one, but here and there someone was there, Ilse, Kaschnitz."

The authors Katharina Hagena and Nicole Seifert talk about these women and their friendships. The actress Christiane von Poelnitz will read selected passages.

Afterwards we will be showing the film portrait "Ingeborg Bachmann - Dichten für die Wahrheit" by Barbara Frank (ARTE/ORF 2026, 52 min) from around 8.30 pm; broadcast on ARTE on 24.6., 10.55 pm, online on arte.tv from 17.6.
