Tonada: the musical ensemble from Barranquilla, Colombia, nominated for the Latin Grammy Awards (2024) in the “Best Folklore Album” category. Since 2014, Tonada has been dedicated to interpreting and preserving traditional bullerengue—Afro-Caribbean music—and keeping alive this cultural expression of music and dance traditions from Colombia’s Caribbean coast. The ensemble combines traditional rhythms and vocals with contemporary musical elements, creating powerful and emotional stage performances. Tonada views music as a means of preserving cultural identity, collective memory, and social interaction.
