Peter Wohlleben – Bakterien - die heimlichen Helden
In the organizer's words:
Peter Wohlleben opens up an exciting world to us: an understanding of organisms that are invisible to the naked eye but shape the fate of humanity. They are not only practical helpers in our daily lives—without bacteria, there would be no yogurt, no salami, and no sauerkraut—and they live on our skin, on our tongues, or in our intestines, but also in every cell of our bodies, where they control us according to their own needs. The author shows that we are made of bacteria and how profoundly they shape us—for example, by producing hormones that influence our moods. He explains how they help us tackle the climate crisis. And he argues that we should cooperate with them and treat them with care so that both they and we can thrive.
