Zerlegte Bücher, bewahrte Klänge: Liturgische Musikfragmente der UB Leipzig
In the organizer's words:
Recycling was a matter of course in the Middle Ages and the Early Modern Period: anything that was no longer in use was immediately repurposed. This also applied to the precious parchment manuscripts used for choral singing in monasteries and churches: They were taken out of service, cut up, and used as book bindings. This evening featuring three singers presents examples from the University Library of Leipzig and brings the lost soundscape of the monasteries back to life.
Conversation and singing with Michael Braunger, Jan-Felix Klumpp, and Samuel Schick in a musical exchange with Christoph Mackert.
