A brief spring between Saxon Switzerland and the Swiss Alps becomes a test case for family, work, and the precarious happiness of not quite falling behind. A temporary boss, a brother who can do nothing except get everything right, a clairvoyant Iris, a clever little rascal, and delightfully unnecessary characters populate the story. Funny, melancholic, and full of self-deprecating humor, she tells of the small shifts that give rise to life’s crises, and of humor as the last form of resistance.
