Leinwand der Solidarität: Aktuelle Berichte aus dem Südlibanon
In the organizer's words:
"The Screen of Solidarity" is a series of events organized by the Cologne Donation Convoy in cooperation with the Theater im Bauturm, which makes political topics accessible through film, talks, and discussions.
This event is dedicated to the current situation in Lebanon. Together, we want to examine the effects of war, displacement, and destruction—and create a space for exchange. The evening is organized in collaboration with the Network of Critical Journalists—an association of journalists who cover the Israel-Palestine conflict and the WANA region, share knowledge, defend press freedom, and create spaces for solidarity-based exchange.
Our guests are Christoph Reuter, a reporter for *Der Spiegel*’s foreign affairs desk who has been reporting from crisis zones for many years and is currently based primarily in Lebanon, as well as Nohma El-Hajj, a doctor, freelance writer with Palestinian-Lebanese roots, and a member of the Network of Critical Journalists. Using her own photos and video footage, she will report on the destruction of her home village in southern Lebanon by the Israeli army and on the humanitarian situation on the ground. The discussion will be moderated by Nada Assaad, a journalist and the initiator of the talk series “Tausend & ein Talk – Die Migra-Night.”
During the evening, we will screen the short film “Someday, a Child,” which won the Golden Bear in 2026. Told from the perspective of an 11-year-old boy, the film explores what it’s like to grow up in war and how violence and insecurity shape children’s daily lives.
In addition to personal accounts and political analysis, there will be time for questions, discussion, and open dialogue. The event is open to anyone interested—regardless of prior knowledge—who would like to learn more about the situation in Lebanon and engage in conversation with others.
