Donny Benét

In his music, Australian artist Donny Benét blends funky basslines with ethereal pop vocals, danceable Italo-disco elements, and a subtle post-punk vibe. However, his top tracks “Konichiwa, ” “Santorini , ” and “Working Out” represent only a small part of what has set the artist apart since his successful debut album “Don’t Hold Back” in 2011. With that album, Donny Benét achieved his breakthrough in his home country of Australia. Since then, the Sydney-based musician has become a true cult figure who continually explores his musical range and experiments with various influences and genres. A few years and albums later—after Donny Benét was named Live Bassist of the Year at the 2016 National Live Music Awards—came his musical masterpiece: “The Don” (2018). With the album, as well as international tours through Europe, the UK, and the U.S., he steadily expanded his fan base in 2018 and 2019. In 2020, Donny Benét released his album “Mr Experience” and celebrated another hit track with “Negroni Summer.” Following performances at Rock Werchter, Down the Rabbit Hole, Pohoda, Valkhof, the Plissken Festival, and sold-out shows in London, Berlin, and Amsterdam, Donny Benét will take the stage at Vienna’s WUK on September 13 as part of his Europe/UK 2026 Tour, “ .”

Following the success of his EP “Le Piano” (2022)—which won an AIR Award in 2023 for Best Independent Jazz Album or EP—and the 2024 album “Infinite Desires,” Donny Benét returned with the next chapter in his instrumental series: “Il Basso.” This time, he devoted himself entirely to the bass—the foundation, the glue, and sometimes even the undisputed boss in his music. Thus, “Il Basso” showcases Donny’s passion for low tones. To properly celebrate the EP’s release, the musician is taking “Il Basso” on tour and will perform his new tracks alongside his classics from what are now seven albums and two EPs. Expect the usual dose of passion, energy, and virtuosity from Don and his band.
