areksu - somewhere in between
In the organizer's words:
areksu is a music project founded in 2025 by Alexandra Feusi, a Swiss-Polish artist from Zurich who has been living in Vienna since 2018. She has been DJing regularly since 2020; in 2023, she released her first single, “Hello Sunday,” under her own name. With areksu, she takes a deliberately minimalist approach: music as a process, not as a perfect product.
The tracks emerge from her daily work with her voice and synthesizer. They are simple, honest recordings—“professionally unprofessional.”
She sings mainly in Japanese and English.
A stay in Kyoto lasting just over a year was formative for this.
Singing in Japanese began out of a desire not to lose the language and to maintain a connection to Japan. From this, a unique form of expression developed.
areksu challenges the notion that music must be flawless, optimized, and marketable. Mistakes, uncertainties, and nuances remain audible. It’s not about technical perfection, but about presence, humanity, and the joy of the creative process itself.
The affinity with Japanese philosophies such as wabi-sabi or kintsugi is not expressed as a reference but as a fundamental principle: traces of the process are allowed to remain visible.
Alexandra Feusi studied painting at the Academy of Fine Arts in Vienna. Her work moves between music and the visual arts. areksu represents a space in between—between Vienna, Zurich, and Kyoto; between concert performance and an open creative process; between painting and music.
