The epitome of a traditional pub. The Kufflers took over the Haxnbauer from Franz Bauer (hence the name, by the way) in 1980 and developed it from a pure knuckle roasting business into an Altmünchen restaurant.
The veal and pork knuckles are famous the world over: first they rest for 24 hours in the secret Haxnbauer marinade, then they are grilled to a crispy outside, tender inside delicacy. Our favorite is accompanied by snacks, classics such as the Kuffler Wiener Schnitzel and Munich pastries. So you'll feel right at home even if you can't be tempted by the pork knuckle.
Please note: Since 2025, you will find the original HAXNBAUER in a new prime location, in the beautifully restored listed building at Tal 38 between Isartor and Marienplatz.
