Workshop

In the organizer's words:

Sculpture meets street art, marble meets mixtape, showcase meets vinyl - exhibition meets everyday life

Look forward to a second edition of the Culture Camp - a five-day vacation workshop for young people aged between 13 and 19.
We are entering the next round with fresh questions, new faces and lots of creative energy. This time we're bringing pop culture to the Humboldt Forum! How does it work?

You bring the beats, memes and playlists - we open up the rooms.
You have collector's items - we have the showcases for them.
You share your perspectives on pop, media and everyday life - together we make them visible.

5 days of creative research and work, lots of fun & new people!

What you can expect:
The Culture Camp is a laboratory and think tank for an exhibition on pop culture, coolness and cultural appropriation, which will be on display at the Humboldt Forum from May 2027. The exhibition will be aimed at people between the ages of 15 and 25. And since we don't want to do it without you, you are invited to actively participate.

At the Culture Camp, you will engage in a creative process together with artists and other young people, develop ideas and design contributions for a major exhibition project in the heart of Berlin.

What that means in concrete terms:

Rap, beats & sampling
With musician Village Boy P, you will delve deep into the history of hip-hop and the art of sampling. You produce your own beats. For an interactive sampling station in the exhibition, you also decide which background information about your music should be made tangible. And you determine the tracks.

Graffiti, street art & zine making
Together with two urban artists, you will explore connections between the graffiti and street art scenes in Berlin and São Paulo. You will become experts in the art of spray painting, try your hand at it and work on a zine to help others understand the history behind graffiti and street art.

Film & storytelling
You will develop visual contributions for the exhibition with filmmaker Ani. You will prepare and conduct interviews with experts. You will learn the tricks of the trade when it comes to photographic and film documentation and record what happens at the Culture Camp. Your results will become part of the exhibition as well as part of a publication.

There will also be plenty of space for encounters and exchanges at this camp - in chill zones, with tasty snacks and drinks - the chilled passion fruit soda is ready and waiting!
