In Milk & Water, Timo Hinkelmann examines the invisible forces that shape our lives. Milk and water are metaphors for the path from original dependence to supposed independence.
With the end of biological dependencies, new bonds emerge: Consumption, media and social expectations often influence our perceptions and decisions more than we realize.
The works move between childhood and adulthood, between care and self-determination. They invite us to reflect on belonging, identity and the limits of independence.
Milk & Water takes a sensitive look at the question of whether freedom is an attainable state - an ongoing process.
