Over the course of his career, Shakey Graves - the artist alias of Austin, Texas native Alejandro Rose-Garcia - has repeatedly created special musical experiences tailored directly to his fans. These have included home-burned CDs in customized packaging, elaborate treasure hunts where fans could find hidden cassettes, and exclusive releases via Bandcamp.
"The fans and musicians that really move me - and the often inexplicable ways in which I discover new things - usually come from chance, chaos and spontaneous moments," says Rose-Garcia. "I've always tried to make my music feel like a choose-your-own-adventure."
In 2024, he celebrated the tenth anniversary of his album And The War Came with a special anniversary edition. This contained previously unreleased demos and B-sides from the creation process and invited fans to rediscover the long-abandoned "Music House".
His story continues to evolve like a true gentleman from Texas - but one thing remains clear: Shakey Graves is still a true gentleman from Texas.
