Jazz to the power of three presents: Rokost July 22 | Hafenbahnhof Hamburg

As part of the concert series Jazz hoch drei, the Hamburg band Rokost will be performing at Hafenbahnhof on July 22. The quartet around trumpeter and composer Michel Schroeder will present their self-titled debut album, showcasing a contemporary jazz approach that consciously moves between improvisation, electronics and experimental sound design. Rokost is a project founded by trumpeter and composer Michel Schroeder in 2023, with which Schroeder moved into the world of electronic music for the first time. Like no other band from Hamburg, Rokost combines the genres of jazz, electronics, punk and experimental soundscapes to create a unique sound, a mixture that makes the project a pioneer of the Hamburg music scene and beyond. The quartet - Marta Winnitzki (Synthesizer), Leon Saleh (Drums & FX), Christian Müller (EBass) and Michel Schroeder (Tromete & FX) - develop their own sounds by programming synthesizers and creating effects in Max/MSP themselves instead of using presets. Schroeder's compositions combine clear harmonic and rhythmic structures with a high degree of collaborative improvisation, while remaining raw and immediate.
