„Renaissance trifft Romantik“ Konzert mit dem Monteverdichor München
In the organizer's words:
In the "Concert on Sunday Evening" series, St. Stephan (Zillertalstr. 47) will host the Monteverdi Choir Munich on 28.06.2026 at 6 pm with the program "Renaissance meets Romanticism". Motets from the high and late Renaissance by Palestrina, Byrd, Croce, di Lasso, Gabrieli and others will enter into an exciting dialog with a work from the Romantic period, the Cantus Missa, op. 109 by Josef Gabriel Rheinberger.
In addition, Thomas Rothfuß, church musician and organist at St. Stephen's, will perform Bach's Prelude and Fugue in C minor.
The MonteverdiChor was founded in 1991 by Konrad von Abel. Within a short space of time, the ensemble with its 25 or so members acquired an outstanding reputation as an interpreter of compositions from all musical eras. A busy concert schedule in Bavaria was soon followed by invitations to perform at home and abroad as well as at various music festivals. Concert tours have taken the choir to Freiburg, Strasbourg, Ulm, Heilbronn, Erfurt, Wittenberg, Berlin, Dresden, Kiel and Flensburg. The MonteverdiChor is characterized by a captivating and intonationally secure overall performance, a transparent sound and the delicately crafted structure of the works.
Free admission to the concert, donations are kindly requested.
