In the organizer's words:

A queer party in the church? Can that be a sin? No. Can it become iconic? Absolutely.

This summer, "Queer as Hell" becomes: ✨ QUEER AS HEAVEN ✨

And this time not at night in the nave - but as an OPEN AIR DAYPARTY in the middle of the courtyard of the Carthusian Church.
Anyone can party at night.But sunshine on old monastery walls, cold drinks in your hand, pop bangers in the open air and hundreds of queer people in the middle of Cologne's Südstadt district?
That's another level.

From 3 to 10 p.m., the inner courtyard will become Cologne's queerest summer oasis.Between old walls, summer light and bass, this completely absurd moment arises in which church suddenly seems like a festival.

And if Cologne is doing Cologne things again and it's raining:Then we'll just continue celebrating in the church.The party won't be canceled.

The party is organized by the Queer Church Cologne, a project of the Cologne-Linksrheinisch church district. Behind the project is a group of young, queer people who want to shape the church and create spaces for visibility and diversity. The event is not commercially oriented, but sees itself as an evening where queer spirituality, faith and community can be experienced. The aim is to create an open space for encounters and exchange within church contexts. The proceeds will be used to finance further projects of the Queer Church Cologne and support the work for queer visibility in church spaces in the long term.
