PLANET ROCK presents:

THE SUFI DUB BROTHERS aka Ashraf Sharif Khan & Viktor Marek *live, DJ Shazam

They’re back: Over the past few years, Ashraf Sharif Khan & Viktor Marek have managed to build a solid career—solely thanks to the sheer power of their incredible and incredibly entertaining live sets. And this despite the fact that their debut album, “Sufi Dub Brothers,” was only released in August 2020, after nearly ten years in the making and in the midst of the turmoil of the COVID-19 pandemic. The accusations that their approach—combining sitar and sampler—was esoteric have long since dissipated. With their “karate chops” (a down-to-earth sense of humor and outstanding musical talent), this exceptional duo from the Waterkant effortlessly dispelled those accusations and helped establish their hometown of Hamburg as the new center of European Indo-pop fusion. Having completely abandoned their elaborate stage names in favor of the name “Sufi Dub,” the time is now ripe for “The Return of The Sufi Dub Brothers”: With a title that pays homage to both the late Lee Scratch Perry and forgotten superhero franchises, this new album was released in November 2025 on Fun In The Church.

They’re back: Over the past few years, Ashraf Sharif Khan & Viktor Marek have built a solid career based on the sheer power of their incredible and incredibly entertaining live sets. And this despite the fact that their debut album “Sufi Dub Brothers” was released in August 2020 after nearly ten years in the making, right in the midst of the COVID turmoil. Long gone are the suspicions that their approach of combining sitar and samplers was esoteric. Using their karate chops (a down-to-earth sense of humor and outstanding musical qualities), the stellar duo from the Waterkant easily dispelled these accusations, helping to establish their home of Hamburg as a new center of European Indo-Pop fusion. Having completely dropped their full artist names in favor of the Sufi Dub moniker, the time is ripe for “The Return of The Sufi Dub Brothers”: With a title that pays equal homage to the late Lee Scratch Perry and obscure superhero franchises, this new release was put out by Fun In The Church in November 2025.
