Lilian Steiner, an American, has been living in Paris for years and has made a name for herself there as a brilliant therapist. When her patient Paula dies under mysterious circumstances, she refuses to believe the official story that it was a suicide. Together with her ex-husband Gabriel, who still has feelings for her, Lilian embarks on a turbulent investigation to uncover the mystery surrounding Paula.
