Shoe salesman Marty (Timothée Chalamet) has only one goal in life: To become world champion in table tennis and thus ascend to the Olympus of celebrated athletes, among whom he has long counted himself anyway. In order to take part in a tournament in London, the young New Yorker puts all his eggs in one basket, but has to admit defeat to the Japanese sports star Endo in the nerve-wracking final. But this is just the beginning of the odyssey of a man who is prepared to risk everything for fame and success. Because Marty's dream is definitely a few sizes too big for his uncle's small shoe store.

Based on the biography of legendary table tennis player and bon vivant Marty Reisman, director Josh Safie was able to recruit an energetic ensemble for his first feature film without his brother Benny. In addition to Timothée Chalamet (DUNE), the cast includes Oscar® winner Gwyneth Paltrow, who makes her big screen comeback here, "Shark Tank" icon Kevin O'Leary, DIE NANNY star Fran Drescher and Tyler Okonma (better known as Tyler, the Creator), as well as Odessa A'zion, granddaughter of filmmaker Percy Adlon, as Marty's lover Rachel.
