NESTERVAL Das Schiff

In the organizer's words:

With its plays, the queer folk theater ensemble Nesterval transforms temporary venues into immersive parallel worlds - and turns even audiences far removed from the theater into real theater fans. After their completely sold-out theater hits from Baakenhöft to Museumsdorf Volksdorf in previous festival editions, the Viennese group returns with their sixth summer festival work - and presents a premiere on the MS Stubnitz as their latest coup: THE SHIP begins in cinematic fashion, as the luxury yacht MS Nesterval gets into distress on its journey home and is rescued by the MS Stubnitz. What follows is a social experiment between engine room and Captain's Dinner, White Lotus, Love Boat and Triangle of Sadness. While the stranded yacht company tries to preserve its glamor, glamour meets headwinds and the boundaries between top and bottom become blurred. The audience becomes part of the crew and experiences how a rescue voyage turns into a journey into deep human abysses. As always, Nesterval, whose permanent ensemble now also includes performers from Hamburg, weaves historical contexts, waltz sounds, pop culture and political realities into an addictive theatrical spectacle.
