1st Marine Protection Day in Leipzig on September 6, 2026

On September 6, 2026, Leipzig will be the meeting place for all those who are committed to protecting the oceans: The Captain Paul Watson Foundation Germany invites you to the first "Marine Conservation Day Leipzig" on the idyllic Philippus site on the Karl Heine Canal. Between water, culture and urban life, a day of action for young and old will be created that imparts knowledge, inspires and brings people together - in the middle of Saxony and yet very close to the sea.

From exciting lectures and interactive workshops for children to exhibitions, readings and information stands, visitors can expect a varied program for the whole family. The aim of the event is to draw attention to the critical situation of the world's oceans and at the same time show concrete opportunities to get involved.

Numerous committed initiatives and organizations will be taking part, including

The program will be complemented by the impressive works of nature photographer Capkira and readings/lectures by authors Florian Sturm and Ramon Gerwien.

The Marine Conservation Day is not only an information event, but also a platform for exchange, networking and joint action. After all, protecting the oceans doesn't just start at the coast - it starts wherever people take responsibility. Leipzig is thus sending out a strong signal for marine protection and demonstrating that Change can also happen far from the sea.
