Based on the solo works of Johann Sebastian Bach, the Cologne ensemble Ludus Instrumentalis embarks on a musical journey through Baroque Europe. The focus is on works for violin and cello by Bach as well as compositions by his contemporaries and companions, including Georg Philipp Telemann, Johann Georg Pisendel, Franz Benda and Francesco Geminiani. The result is a lively sound image of the musical network that shaped Bach and was shaped by him.

Ludus Instrumentalis has been dedicated to historically informed performance practice since its foundation in 2014. International awards, festival appearances and acclaimed CD recordings have made the ensemble a permanent fixture on the European early music scene.
