Chris Hopkins —an internationally active jazz pianist, alto saxophonist, composer, arranger, bandleader, and workshop and university instructor—was born in 1972 in Princeton, New Jersey. Equally accomplished on piano and alto saxophone, he is one of the busiest artists on the international jazz scene. With unbridled passion, he has been presenting lively, melodic jazz music—reimagined in a contemporary style—for several decades now, featuring a strong, personal musical language that combines artistic quality with sophisticated entertainment and delights critics and audiences alike. Not least, he gained particular renown as the leader of the ensemble “Echoes of Swing,” which enjoyed success for over 20 years with an unchanged lineup and garnered international attention for its innovative approach to the jazz tradition. Dan Morgenstern, the doyen of American jazz critics, titled his review with a tongue-in-cheek reference to the band’s name: “They don’t echo, they renew.” The *Hamburger Abendblatt* wrote: “Music that brings joy to discerning listeners...
