Trópico Norte is a contemporary jazz ensemble focused on developing original compositions that emerge from a dialogue between different cultural traditions. Through improvisation, sonic exploration, and the fusion of diverse musical languages, the group pursues a continuous search for new forms of expression in contemporary jazz.
The ensemble consists of four musicians of different nationalities: Maria Mendoza on flute, Norman Peplow on piano, Camilo Villa on electric bass, and Ayu Requena on drums. Their diverse experiences, influences, and sensibilities come together to form a shared, dynamic sonic identity that is constantly evolving. The music moves between composition and spontaneity, creating soundscapes that invite attentive listening and foster intercultural connection.
