Jazz+ in der Seidlvilla präsentiert: 08.12.2026_FEAR O’ SHE
In the organizer's words:
Jazz+ at the Seidlvilla presents: December 8, 2026_FEAR O’ SHE
Jeremy Viner (clarinet, saxophone)
Felix Hauptmann (piano)
Elisabeth Coudoux (cello)
Roger Kintopf (double bass)
Tancrède D. Kummer (drums, composition)
FEAR O’ SHE brings together a constellation of emerging and established improvisers around Tancrède’s compositions and concepts.
The music blends contemporary structures, avant-garde rhythms, and forms with spontaneous gestures, intuition, and initiative.
We aim to take a holistic approach to music, where the material serves as a laboratory for exploring our individualities within the collective.
For us, performed music must be projected with fierce intensity and unwavering commitment—hence the notion of “ritual” into which FEAR O’ SHE wishes to immerse itself along with its audience, delving deeper into the devotional intensity of repetitive motions while discovering and exploring ways to interweave composition with improvisation. Although a substantial amount of time is spent writing scores and establishing parameters for performance and interaction, the collective will always be the prism through which this artistic vision unfolds.

Press:
"The ensemble Fear O’She is a quintet centered around the French drummer Tancréde D. Kummer. Tancréde D. Kummer wrote the music for the quintet. A composer who has gained musical experience in various fields, ranging from a piano-and-drums duo performing an arrangement of Bach’s Goldberg Variations to a jazz piano trio.
For the band Fear O’She, he has meticulously composed all the music, yet he gives his musicians room for interpretation and improvisation. The band members are all experienced improvisational musicians: Elisabeth Coudoux on cello, Jeremy Viner on clarinet and saxophone, Felix Hauptmann on piano, Roger Kintopf on bass, and Tancréde D. Kummer on drums.
The group’s music was a form of new chamber music, featuring short melodic phrases on cello, clarinet/saxophone, and piano. It was thoroughly catchy music that repeatedly captivated with its unexpected twists and turns. Despite the notated form, the individual musicians took their own initiatives and followed their intuition. This resulted in a very cohesive ensemble sound of strange and unfamiliar beauty."
