On May 29, the kiosk will open again for the Fritzi*s Funky Hour with a very special special. This time we are collaborating with the Mogol Soundsystem Crew from Wuppertal.

For the first time, the self-built sound system and its crew will be coming to Cologne and curating the finest selection of bass-heavy music from a wide range of genres in the open air. They have invited Aamaa and Miezibub from Cologne as special guests. Together with Superwet from the soundsystem crew, they will be responsible for the evening's music.

It's a great place to meet up with friends, get to know new people and marvel at the sound of the sound system. We offer cool drinks - both with and without alcohol - as well as delicious Hempies snacks so that you can relax or dance outside to good music. Free admission and a toilet is also available.

Mogol Soundsystem Crew

The Mogol Soundsystem Crew is the link between DIY sound system culture and electronic underground club sound. The project started with the idea of opening up the local bass music scene in Wuppertal and by building a precise, sub-oriented system and organizing parties to connect the scene. Over time, a permanent crew of regular selectors formed around the system, each with their own unique approach to the art of selection - from deep dub and heavy steppers to broken UK rhythms, experimental bass music and driving 4x4 basslines, always rooted in sound system culture and a shared love of low frequencies.

Since the first box was built in early 2024, the sound system has been in use at several cultural hotspots in Wuppertal - not only bringing rich sound to the city, but also creating a community for like-minded people. The Selectors have come together on various occasions to organize parties in the city, for example in bars, Café23 or the Open Lobby in the Open Ground.

Aamaa

AAMAA is a DJ and artist from Cologne. Her sets, a unique blend of UK garage, hard and bass house, are characterized by a deep love of electronic music, art and pop culture.

Miezibub

Miezibub is a Cologne based Drum & Bass DJ known for her dark, deep and emotional sound. After more than a decade as a passionate fan, she decided to become a DJ herself four years ago.

Her sets are like a time capsule, combining heavy rollers with moments of light. With tempos between 130 and 174 BPM, she switches seamlessly between breaks, garage, dubstep, jungle and drum & bass - always with a subtle twist and often an unexpected surprise track.

She has performed several times at the Open Ground and has been heard on stations such as Kool FM and Callshop Radio, where she also hosts the show "unity".

Superwet

Dubstep, grime and everything in between - Superwet brings all kinds of flavors, from deep dub music to playful drum and bass.

A blend of grime bangers, heavy basslines and abstract broken beats will keep you enthralled all night.

Born out of curiosity and love for bass music - we do it for the culture.

🌈 Together, we want to create a space where everyone feels safe and welcome. Therefore: mindfulness and respect - no place for sexism, racism, anti-Semitism, queerphobia, transphobia, ableism or other forms of discrimination and violence.

♿️ Hempies is accessible at ground level. Please note, however, that the toilets are unfortunately not wheelchair accessible. If you have any questions about other barriers (e.g. volume, seating, allergies), please contact us at freiraum@hempies-vegan.de
