A Tour of the Südstadt with a Focus on Colonial Criticism

White women were integral to German colonialism from the very beginning. This was also the case in Cologne: This tour through the Südstadt reveals traces of Cologne women who were involved in the colonial project—and who must indeed be regarded as colonial perpetrators. Among other things, the tour focuses on women from colonized societies who came to Cologne. Their lives often unfolded on the fine line between resistance and assimilation. How does colonialism continue to have an impact today?
