Feridun Zaimoğlu: 'Son without a father'
In his novel 'Sohn ohne Vater', Feridun Zaimoğlu tells the story of a journey from Germany to Turkey to visit his deceased father's grave. The journey becomes a confrontation with memory, origin and loss. The father appears as a first-generation migrant worker - caught between authority, care and life between two worlds. In the discussion, this literary perspective meets the ARD reportage 'Heimaterde - Letzte Ruhestätte Türkei' by Orhan Çalışır and Dirk Meißner, which accompanies the transfer of a Turkish guest worker to his home village - and poses the question of the last home.
