Faden & Leinwand - Textilfarbe trifft auf Leinwand und Stickgarn

In this workshop at Kunstort Köln, you’ll create your own work of art, painted with fabric paint and then embroidered by you.

I’ll hand-stretch the canvas for you—there’s nothing off-the-shelf in this size. So from the very beginning, you’ll be working with materials intended specifically for this one day.

This combination of painting and embroidery is part of my own artistic practice; I’ve been working with fabric paint and embroidery thread for years, long before it became a trend.

You’ll start by painting freely on the canvas: creating your own lines while observing how the liquid paint behaves. While the paint dries, you’ll select your embroidery threads and practice your first stitches. Then you pick out selected lines from your painting and embroider them.

The result is a piece that combines two techniques—painting and embroidery—developed independently.

This workshop is suitable whether you’ve ever held a needle or a paintbrush before or are working with fabric paint for the first time.

Here’s what to expect:

• Free-flowing painting with fabric paint on a handmade canvas

• A selection of high-quality embroidery threads

• Embroidering your own lines—there’s no right or wrong here

• Small group (max. 8 people) in a relaxed studio atmosphere at Kunstort Köln

Duration: approx. 4 hours. Included: all materials, handmade canvas, welcome drink, beverages, and light snacks.
