Carmen, or Words That Touch the Heart

A few months ago, Carmen decided to live as a hikikomori. At first, the man from Egersdorf thought she had caught a bad cold because, once again, he hadn’t been paying full attention. But this is neither an infectious disease nor a method of committing suicide by stabbing oneself in the stomach with a dagger. In Japan, the term “hikikomori” refers to people who have withdrawn almost completely from the
world and, like hermits, exist only within their own four walls. Most likely, the man from Egersdorf is to blame for Carmen’s situation having come to this. The man from Egersdorf also took such a heavy toll on his neighbor, Rene Eichhorn, that the latter had to seek therapeutic treatment. Of course, that wasn’t his intention. But the man from Egersdorf wouldn’t be the man from Egersdorf if he couldn’t
to his advantage with a sense of humor.

Together, the hot-tempered Egers, the gleeful neighbor, and the Bible-savvy Carmen dance on a minefield of dark humor. Among other things, the audience will experience a hilarious exorcism, feminist Biedermeier, cutting-edge jokes about testosterone, and a behind-the-scenes look at some thoroughly crazy food bloggers.
