Decolonize Festival

In the organizer's words:

"Decolonize XBerg36 - Urban Collective Knowledge 2026" is an intersectional, community-based art and education project in Görlitzer Park in Berlin-Kreuzberg. In two editions in 2026, the festival will create an open space for artistic interventions, political education and collective exchange. With a diverse programme of live bands, interactive workshops, discussion formats and collective meditation, the park - an often stigmatized and controlled place - will be transformed into a solidarity forum for encounters, resistance and aesthetic practice.

Knowledge is not created hierarchically, but from the experiences, perspectives and creative processes of the participants. Voices that are often marginalized in public discourse are made particularly visible - especially BIPoC communities, young people and people with experience of flight or migration. The festival does not see itself as a consumer-oriented cultural offering, but rather as a participatory educational space that strengthens empowerment, visibility and agency. The program is complemented by spaces for exchange and collective care.

Initiated by Joliba e. V. and in collaboration with Gangway e. V., Global We Media and Nijinski Arts e.V., a format is being created that combines art, education and community and has an impact beyond the individual events.
