That teen diary needs to come out of the drawer—and into the spotlight! Because it has everything a good story needs: heroes and antiheroes, wild plots and sharp punchlines, villains, scapegoats, and plenty of room for readers to relate. After all, a diary is like a good piece of ham: it needs to hang for a while to really mature. And with a few years of hindsight, it’s a real treat to savor.

At the annual “Best of” event on the big stage, experienced, hard-core Diary Slammers from Hamburg and Berlin read from their early adolescent works: Whether it’s a classic diary, love letters, or song lyrics—anything from your own teenage years that’s intimate and really should never, ever be read aloud in public is fair game.

Let yourself be enchanted by the emotional turmoil and elation, the declarations of love and suicidal thoughts of complete strangers—take a collective trip back to your own teenage years! And at the end, the audience crowns the slam champion of the evening.
