ATZE Musiktheater zu Gast auf dem Leopoldplatz
In the organizer's words:
Just before summer break, on July 1, the lawn next to the Alte Nazarethkirche will once again be transformed into an open-air stage for children and families. Following last year’s successful premiere, we invite you once again to an afternoon full of fun, clowning, and theater starting at 3:30 p.m. Admission is free for everyone!
As part of the main program, the Atze Musiktheater will perform the play “You Started It! No, You Did!” based on the picture book by David McKee. The story revolves around arguments, misunderstandings, and the question of how to communicate effectively—told in a humorous and child-friendly way.
Even before the main program begins, a special highlight awaits the audience: The Zenobia Theater presents “Yellow Marshmallow.” This play, which is as funny as it is imaginative, combines object theater and clowning to provide top-notch entertainment for audiences of all ages.
In case of rain or storm, the children’s theater performance will take place in the event room of the Schiller Library (Müllerstraße 149).
PROGRAM
3:30 p.m. Zenobia Theater: Yellow Marshmallow
Two female clowns create small worlds and large characters on stage without words. Together, they play with an old record player and simple, colorful folding rulers, transforming them into all sorts of things: ice cream, horses, helicopters, fish and crocodiles, bouquets of flowers, saxophones, and much more. In the process, they create new fantasy worlds and funny characters and embark on grand adventures. They’ll discover that it isn’t really that much fun to jealously hoard things and keep them to themselves, and they’ll show the children that you can play even with very little. The most important thing is to share and let your imagination run wild.
Recommended age: 0–99 years
Duration: 40 minutes
With Sara Calvario and Veronica Compagnone
5:00 p.m. Atze Music Theater: You started it! No, you did!
Two guys, one red and one blue, live on opposite sides of a tall mountain and can’t agree on whether the day ends or the night begins in the evening. Both are convinced they’re right, so a heated argument ensues—with a surprisingly cheerful outcome. A musical adaptation of the well-known picture book story by David McKee.
Recommended age: 3 and up
Running time: 45 minutes
With Nikolaus Herdieckerhoff and Mathieu Pelletier
