In the organizer's words:

No other medium has developed such an intimate relationship with time as film.
It is the only medium that not only describes time but also embodies it: every shot is a decision about duration, every cut a leap through what has been and what is to come. The short film program“Leaps in Time”draws precisely on this characteristic—and brings together films that make time tangible in radically different ways.
A man trains his voice because he knows he will soon lose it. A father copes with the pain of his son’s death by finishing the story of his son’s flipbook and giving a conclusion to an unfinished tale. People come together in search of the fleeting moment and the meaning of life. Some find fulfillment in the constant repetitions of everyday life, while others pull the emergency brake and seek ways to slow down and save time—paradoxically, all at the same time. Still others grapple with the nearly unsolvable question of how our generation can leave a warning for future civilizations about radioactive waste whose half-life exceeds our transgenerational capacity for communication. None of the films provides a clear-cut answer to the question of the nature of time. But they all give us the time to see.

Followed by a film discussion with Ann Carolin Renninger, Marie-Catherine Theiler, and Juliane Jaschnow, moderated by Luc-Carolin Ziemann
